Who We Are

Abbotsford Community Services (ACS) is a community-based agency serving children, youth, families, and seniors of all personal, social, ethnic, and economic groups. The broad goals of ACS are:

  1. To plan for and provide direct social and community services;
  2. To heighten awareness of social concerns within the community and to foster community involvement;
  3. To create opportunities for community members to participate in serving, developing, and strengthening our communities through partnerships with government, private organizations, and individuals.

Incorporated in 1969 under the BC Societies Act, ACS is a registered charitable organization. ACS provides a wide range of vital services to more than 37,000 local residents annually. The range of 80 programs include anti-poverty and advocacy services; family, youth, and children’s services; early childhood and family development; Community Living programs; addictions counseling; multicultural and immigrant services; community justice programs; recycling services; seniors’ services; community information; and referral services.

The 42-year old organization demonstrates strong partnerships in the community, sound financial and human resource capacity, and is client-driven, impacts oriented, and positively regarded by clients, employers, and other stakeholders.

The agency employs more than 350 staff, operating from 18 different work sites.
We are proud to host over 1,000 volunteers in any given year. In fiscal year 2009-2010, ACS volunteers logged 49,453 hours of service. This amounts to more than 27 full-time equivalent positions, and is a testimony to the strong reputation that ACS holds.

ACS is CARF-accredited, having successfully been surveyed and granted the maximum three-year accreditation status again in 2011.
