About the Instructor - Peter Rigden A+ MSP
Peter loves computers and he loves teaching others how to use computers. He isn't a "computer geek"; he is mostly self-taught. His interest in computers goes way back to the early punch card batch computers of the '70s and he started tinkering such things as the "Vic 20" and Commodore 64 in the '80s.
Peter taught himself Basic programming language to create educational games for his kids! This interest led to learning about repairing and upgrading computers and pretty soon he was putting together computers for friends and family and making house calls to fix computers, too!
Peter identified that often people just didn't know how to use their computers and were sometime intimidated by them. His volunteer sessions with friends, family and acquaintances developed his teaching skills and repertoire of teachable subjects.
He brings almost 30 years of self taught and formal computer education to the classroom and he has a gift for meeting the student at their level of understanding and giving them the tools to increase their knowledge and to use their computers with greater skill--all in a fun stree free environment.
Abbotsford Community Services has been offering Computer Classes since 1998. All courses are taught in our computer lab on computers with the most current programs. Each course will provide printed material.
