WHAT IS FAMILY CENTRE?

Your Family Resource and Referral Centre

Family Centre is a place that fosters the strengths and well-being of individuals and families and our community as a whole. We offer friendly, supportive meeting places where adults and children can share quality time together through formal and informal programs.

We believe that the health of children and their families is directly connected to the health of our community.  As such, we believe in a Family Centre that welcomes all members of our community to a friendly, warm and comfortable place where adults and children can play together, meet new friends, gain new skills and share ideas.

Parent & Tot Classes

I GOT YOU BABE is a fun and interactive class for parents and their children ages 6-23 months. This program enhances parent/child bonding through singing and play techniques. Using verse and rhyme, parents and their little ones learn so much in just a few short weeks.

Family Centre offers a variety of Specialty Classes for 2-3 yr old children that are usually 6-8 weeks long. You and your child can experience learning through play. Your children will learn about colours, shapes, seasons, animals, people and more. Classes are structured with craft time, snack time, reading singing, dramatic play and free play. These classes are very important in helping your child develop life-long social skills. The interaction between parent and child in the preschool environment encourages a feeling os safety and well-being and prepares your youngster for their future schooling. PRESCHOOL CLASSES

We offer two Preschools and several fixed length specialty preschool classes which will assist your child in feeling comfortable and confident as he or she approaches entry to kindergarten.

CRICKET CORNER PRESCHOOL

is located at Family Centre. Children attend Tuesdays and Thursdays, morning or afternoon classes throughout the school year.

COUNTRY CORNER PRESCHOOL

is located in Mount Lehman. Children attend Wednesday and Friday mornings throughout the school year.

Family Centre also operates the

ABC-123 PRESCHOOL LITERACY PROGRAM held in local schools in our community.

SPECIALTY PRESCHOOL CLASSES

Each of our specialty preschool classes has a unique focus. One day per week for six to eight weeks in duration, your child will experience learning in a fun-filled preschool environment. These classes are a gentle way for your child to begin to learn the literacy, social skills and independence required for school.

COMMUNITY DROP-INS

are excellent venues for meeting friends. They provide opportunities for your child to interact with others while developing social skills. Parents benefit from meeting other parents and sharing information and support. We welcome all parents/caregivers with children 0-5 years of age.

Many of the above programs also operate out of our NEIGHBOURHOOD PLACE SITES.
