RECYCLING:

Q.  I run a small business in the Abbotsford area.  Each week we generate a sizable amount of cardboard and paper waste.  I consider myself environment-friendly and do not want to throw these items into the garbage.  Is there somewhere that we can bring our cardboard and paper to for recycling?

 A.  Yes, Abbotsford Community Services Recycling has a facility at 33670 Valley Road that you can drop off your paper, cardboard and regular household recycling.  They are a non-profit organization that processes the Blue Bag recycling for the City of Abbotsford and the District of Mission.  The drop off area is open from Monday to Saturday from 8:00 to 4:30.  For more information call 604.850.3551.

Q.  I run a Daycare/Preschool Program and like all childcare programs I am always looking for resources and affordable fieldtrips for the children in my centre.  Taking care of the environment is important to me and I would like to pass that on to the children in my care.  Are there any good environmental resources in the area that my centre can access at a minimum cost?

A.  Yes, Abbotsford Community Services Recycling Program has a FREE environmental education program that offers programs for children from pre-school to grade 7.  The programs are run out of a classroom located at the Recycling Program on Valley Road.  Each class receives a fun, hands-on recycling or environmental lesson, a tour of the recycling facility and creates an environmentally friendly craft to take home. If your class cannot come to the Recycling Program, arrangements can be made for an instructor to come to your centre.

For more information you should call the Abbotsford Community Services Recycling Program at 604.850.3551
