Enhancing Harmony (ITFAK) Family Counselling Program started in December 1993. ITFAK provides the following counselling services:
Assaultive Men's Psychotherapy Group, offered once a week for 16 weeks, three times a year.
Victim's Support Group for women for 12-14 weeks, three times a year, and ongoing one-on-one counselling.
Family therapy to the couples who need it after finishing separate counselling groups.
Community awareness workshops on topics such as self-esteem, anger management, family violence prevention, conflict resolution and parenting after separation are offered every year. Also information is shared with other programs and the community on the issue of violence against women and children.
Most referrals are received from the Community Corrections offices in Abbotsford, Mission, Chilliwack and Maple Ridge. We also accept clients referred by social services, doctors, lawyers and other community agencies. ITFAK is offered in Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu and English.
