Interpretation and Translation Services (ITS)

If you have clients that don't speak English, we have interpreters you can trust.

The purpose of Abbotsford Community Services (ACS) Interpretation and Translation Service is to provide equal access to services for non-English speaking clients, to help government agencies and businesses in serving the diverse community. ACS Interpretation and Translation Service provides professional Interpreters and Translators in 36 languages.

Testing for interested interpreters is organized on an on-going basis. Training is provided by Abbotsford Community Services 2-3 times per year.

Our translators and interpreters are tested and trained in:

  • types of interpretation
  • role of interpreter
  • ethics of interpretation
  • neutrality
  • case studies
  • confidentiality
  • accuracy

Arabic, Hindi, Romanian, Armenian, Hungarian, Russian, Bosnian, Indonesian, Polish, Cambodian, Italian, Portuguese, Cantonese, Japanese, Serbian, Croatian, Khmer, Spanish, Czech, Korean, Lao, Slovak, English, Urdu, Ukrainian, Dutch, Turkish, Sudanese, Farsi, Mandarin, Tagalog, Vietnamese, French, German, Punjabi

Fees for Service:
Our rates are $40.00 per hour for oral interpretation. Mileage is included in the fee for local appointments.

  • $0.20 per written English word for translation services
  • $0.25 per written English word for "express" translation (done within 3 days)
  • Legal Aid rate in effect for Legal Aid interpretation services with 2 hrs minimum charge
