Target: Families with children aged 0 – 12 identified through the Ministry of Children and Families as experiencing:
problems in parent-child relationships (e.g. conflict, substance abuse, various forms of abuse and neglect)
families whose children have been determined to be in need of protection
Conflict or difficulty in other life domains (e.g. schools, peers, work, justice system)
underdeveloped understanding of normative and non-normative child development
harmful lifestyle choices
social isolation
unsuccessful coping strategies
disruption and/or potential for familial disruption due to extraordinary stressors (e.g. blended families, death of a family member, mental health issues, divorce, incarceration)
Referred families are assigned a worker to help them resolve the identified issues. Work is done primarily in the family’s home or in the community.
The service is available in English, Punjabi and French. Requests for service in other languages are provided in partnership with our Multicultural Program.
