C.A.L.L. program (Community Access to Literacy and Learning)

 

The C.A.L.L. program (Community Access to Literacy and Learning) pairs trained community volunteers with adults who want to improve their reading, writing, or math skills, but who are unable to access literacy or ESL classes or programs.

Learners include adults whose native language is English as well as immigrants and newcomers for whom English is an additional language.

Volunteers and learner pairs arrange to get together at convenient locations in the community for up to three hours every week to work on meeting learner set literacy goals for improved quality of life, employment,or self sufficiency.

Small group learning situations are also possible if learners in the group have similar skill sets.

The program runs from September to June, but interested learners may contact the program co-ordinator at any time to register. Training for new volunteers occurs in September.
