ABOUT THE FAIR

Please join us for a FREE Health Fair where you will have the opportunity to learn about healthy living, local health resources, as well the importance of prevention and early diagnosis. There will also be many free health screenings including:

  • Blood Sugar Screening
  • Hearing Screening
  • Blood Pressure Testing
  • Nutrition and Metabolism Clinic Testing

You can also visit exhibitor booths, attend workshops on healthy eating for your children and family, participate in yoga and exercise classes, and enjoy dancing, skits and presentations.

ABOUT THE FAIR
The Abbotsford Diversity Health Fair will be the second annual Diversity Health Fair where the cross-cultural public will have the opportunity to access an entire spectrum of health related information, from traditional to non-traditional, presented side-by-side in their language of choice. The Diversity Health Fair will disseminate health information through exhibitor booths, health screenings, workshops, demonstrations and much more.
The 2009 fair was quite a success with over 1200 people attending the fair. Over 50 health organization participated in the fair and discussed resources and services with the attendees in many different languages.

The theme of the 2010 health fair is “healthy living and healthy weight”. Although, there is a theme, the specific goals of the fair are:

  1. To save lives by educated the community and making them aware of health risks and disease as well as providing information on preventing as well as recognizing those disease and illness.
  2. To invite various health organizations to setup interactive booths to promote and make known the various health services, resources and information to the diverse multicultural community in Abbotsford
  3. Enable networking among health authorities, community service agencies, settlement agencies with the residents of Abbotsford
  4. To promote healthy living programs and initiatives to newcomers as well as diverse community.
  5. To provide detailed handouts for different demographics on maintaining health as well as preventing disease – in a variety of languages.
