Community service organizations can be found in most municipalities in British Columbia. They provide a broad range of social and health-related services which enhance and strengthen the communities they serve. Most typically these organizations get their start at a grass roots level and gradually grow to become sizeable entities, whose contribution to their communities is significant.
Community services are regulated by the Society’s Act and are governed by boards of directors. Most often they receive government grants to carry out their work, but they are also dependent on the communities they serve for support.
It is community support and input that drives a healthy community services organization.
