Abbotsford Community Services is honored to be the recipient of a $5,000 donation from Dasmesh Punjabi School.

Dasmesh Punjabi School principal George Peary and student council president Abhijeet Gill visited Abbotsford Community Services January 26 to share the good news with Executive Director Rod Santiago and Manager of Philanthropy, Karen Hammond. “Over the past two years, Dasmesh Punjabi School has developed a very productive relationship with Telus,” Peary explained. “One of our talented students, Harsimran Gosal, won first prize in the national Telus Wise cartoon competition. As a result of our work with Telus, they awarded our school $5,000 to present to a charity of our choice. Our Student Council selected Abbotsford Community Services to receive this award.”

Abbotsford Community Services is delighted to receive such a contribution. With over 80 programs accessed by tens of thousands of individuals and families, ACS is committed to assisting community members to improve their lives by helping them find the services and programs they need when they need them. Hammond adds, “It’s outstanding that these students recognize the work of ACS and show such dedication to supporting their community. We really thank them for sharing such an immense gift – if it wasn’t for them, it simply wouldn’t have happened.”

Peary adds, “There is no question that this award is a sterling example of corporate goodwill on behalf of Telus. It is very comforting to us when our talented students are recognized by a leading Canadian telecommunications company. We are most grateful for their support.”

Abbotsford Community Services offers heartfelt thanks to both Dasmesh Punjabi School and Telus for such a remarkable contribution.
