Job Summary

The Youth and Family Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for youth, family, and community engagement.  This includes facilitating the Advisory Group, the Ambassador Program, and coordinating Foundry volunteers.  The Youth and Family Engagement Coordinator will participate in community events and will deliver community presentations.   This position requires knowledge of youth engagement strategies and youth-adult partnership principles.

Your Role:

Archway’s Youth and Family Engagement Coordinator with Foundry Abbotsford contributes by:

  • Promoting Foundry services in the community and engaging youth and families to become involved with Foundry.
  • Developing and overseeing the Youth Ambassador Program.
  • Recruiting, onboarding, and training volunteers to support Foundry services.
  • Attending and participating in Foundry Central Office Working Groups and partnerships.
  • Scheduling and organizing the Youth and Family Advisory Committee meetings to ensure youth needs are aligned with service delivery at Foundry.
  • Participating in community events.
  • Delivering presentations to community groups.

This position is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with the community, liaising with community partners to achieve common goals in meeting the needs of youth and families, and is comfortable in giving presentations to the public.

  • Wage: $28.00 to $30.00 per hour
  • A permanent, full-time position at 35 hours per week, availability Mondays to Fridays.

Getting an Interview–you will be considered if you have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Child and Youth Care, Psychology, Social Work, Social Services or Health Services, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Experience working with youth.
  • Experience working with youth with mental health challenges is preferred.
  • Direct coordination experience is preferred.
  • Experience coordinating and directing volunteers is preferred.

The Job Requires you to have::

  • Networking and relationship building skills; able to build rapport and work with youth.
  • Organizational, planning, and time management skills; demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload in a complex and changing environment.
  • Strong verbal, written communication skills and active listening skills; able to communicate with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures.
  • Good presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Relevant computer and social media skills.
  • This position will require the use of a personal vehicle in good working order.
  • Occasional interactions with people in difficult situations may occur.
  • Flexible work hours are required; working some evenings and the occasional weekend are required.
  • This position has a high level of social interaction and engagement, requiring adherence to health and safety protocols.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required.
  • A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s license and satisfactory driving record is a condition of employment.
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR/AED Level C is a condition of employment.
  • Maintenance of a satisfactory Criminal Record Check is a condition of employment.
