Women Exiting Abuse Violence and Exploitation (WEAVE)

Trauma and/or crisis counselling is offered to women who are actively engaged in sex work and want to exit. Using a women centered approach, confidential services are provided to support women with issues related to trauma and violence.

Women aged 18 and above may participate in counselling solely or with a combination of any other WEAVE services like safe housing, outreach support, and employment alternatives.

WEAVE is a multi-services program offered in partnership SARA for women and led by the Elizabeth Fry Society.

All Women Welcome

No matter what challenges a woman may be facing, if she wants to leave prostitution, WEAVE will help. Many of the women supported suffer from mental health issues, addiction, homelessness, leaving incarceration, or so some combination of these.

Weave also welcomes women who are exploring leaving prostitution but have not yet committed to doing so.

All services are provided free to participants.

How the Program Works

When women enter WEAVE, they are assigned a key worker to support them through the program. A personalized exit plan is developed for each woman based on her individual needs. There is no set time limit for women to complete the WEAVE program. Ongoing supports are available from each of the community service agencies.
